The HMC MediaLab Organisation

The HMC MediaLab Organisation is HMC Interactive’s playspace for digital art, design and architecture. Working with a wide range of digital artists and world experts, HMC MediaLab aims to promote innovation and creativity, and produce exceptional work within a digital context.

Since its inception, HMC MediaLab has worked to create and exhibit new and unique interactive systems. In 2005, Hyperfabric — an elastic touch screen that lets you reach beyond the screen — was shown as part of the Artytechs Parlour at the Port Eliot Literature Festival. In 2006 HMC MediaLab exhibited an installation entitled Rattus Norvegicus at Tate Britain.

The MediaLab often participates in events, giving lectures and showcasing work. In 2005, HMC teamed up with digital artist David Bickerstaff to show off several of their latest innovations for Martyn Ware’s Future of Sound at the Royal Institution of Great Britain.

The only way to know the future is to build it, and that is precisely what we achieve at the HMC MediaLab. The place where artists, scientists and technologists join together to create unbelievably fantastic projects. Adam Montandon — Director, HMC

HMC MediaLab also hosts its own exclusive events, aiming to bring together a diverse range of talented people for collaboration and networking. The HMC MediaLab Organisation is constantly working to facilitate ultra high-quality collaboration between the arts, science and technology disciplines. What binds these varied practices together is the desire to produce exceptional work within a digital context.
